Cookies make a great gift…
I made a Hilton Head set today…

Linda ordered French countryside themed cookies…
they’re going to the baby shower today…
I love how they turned out…
Here’s a photo of one design…
I’m going to chat a bit about them and …
show all the cookies under COOKIE EXAMPLES.
I hope you’ll take a peek:)
“You’re welcome!” Jennifer Garner humbly responded on “Ellen”
when asked about her husband’s nude scene in Gone Girl…
I’m taking her lead…
YOU’RE WELCOME!!!
Of course, it’s not about my husband…lol…
I’ve taught SIX Cookie Decorating 101 classes in the last few weeks…
THREE this week alone…
AND you haven’t had to see any pictures…
(You’re WELCOME!!)
I mean I haven’t posted any pictures…
until now…
I snapped a few today…
Lori treated her mom to the class as a birthday present:)
Sara’s going to teach her friends cookie decorating…
Heather was a “natural”…
Sorority sisters, Marsha and Jill, loved spending some time together…
Laura and Angela were both excited, eager students…
So far…
Cookie Decorating 101…
has had 50 students…
600 cookies…
and raised $1510 for Maggie’s Mermaids…
And we’re not finished yet:)
I love that so many people want to learn cookie art, and
I’m thrilled that I enjoy teaching it so much, so…
I’ve posted new December workshops…
under WORKSHOPS…
I’ve changed several things…
#1… I will be donating a portion of December’s workshop fee
to Maggie’s Mermaids…
#2…I’ve increased the time to 4 hours…
It takes longer than I thought when I planned the fall workshops…
#3…I’ve increased the cost of the workshop because I now have a better idea
the time involved to create the workshops…
#4…I’m willing to do large groups at their location…
I’ve been asked by several organizations to do that…
and I think it’s a pretty cool idea…
#5…I’m not doing evening or Saturday classes at my home…
my family is not crazy about the idea…
#5…One of the December flavors is gingerbread…yum:)
This beautiful building is Madison Park,
a personal care facility on Madison Avenue in the West End.
My friend, Val, is the dietitian and assistant administrator there.
The shared areas are gracious and elegant…really a lovely place.

I’ve painted quite a bit…
4 sunflower paintings…
I was working on a painting for the Uncork and Create Event for Maggie…
which has been postponed until November (I’ll keep you posted)…
I showed two of those on FB…
the other 2…well…let’s just say…
I’m not going to show you EVERY painting…
I’ve also painted…
my front porch,
the front door trim (where my husband replaced the storm door;),
the backyard swing,
my deck table and chairs…
OK…you get the picture…
I’ve had a lot on “my easel” so to speak…
Any who…
Finally, I had time to continue my challenge:
Places in Barboursville, Huntington, and Milton: 30 Paintings in 90 Days…
Yes, it initially was a 30/30 Challenge…but who cares…
I snapped a “During” picture…
You may already recognize this house as the Barboursville house I love so much…

I named my little business “Art for the Soul” for two reasons…
#1 reason: I wanted to create art because I KNOW my soul is meant to create art…and…
#2 reason: I wanted to create art that touched other people’s souls…
so I started making stamped metal necklaces with cool messages like you see above:)…
and I made a few other things…
but now I mainly just do decorated cookies and paintings…
but what I didn’t realize then (2 years ago) was…
how many blessings…
how much joy…
how many very cool experiences I would have…
because of my little business, Art for the Soul.
It is a great blessing to be doing cookie classes for Maggie, Kim, and Rob…
It gives me much joy to be helping them “fight, fight, fight” Maggie’s neuroblastoma…
…and it was cool to have our story told on “Traveling West Virginia”…
which aired this week on WCHS Channel 8…
I hope Maggie’s Mermaids got some more donations…

Monday’s first Cookie Decorating 101 class was a blast…
I’ve told you all about it… except…
I haven’t told you about…
Brad Rice…
He’s the photojournalist from WCHS…
who came to our class to do a story…
for TONIGHT’S 5:30 broadcast on Channel 8 NEWS!!!…
for the feature story section called “Traveling West Virginia”.
Ok…back to Brad…
He’s as cute as this guy…
You know him…
the model for romance novels…
but Brad is better…
He’s just as cute…
(When I was in high school, we called it tough…
or in year book writing: “tuff”)…
But Brad is sooo much better…
BECAUSE…
He is a devoted husband…
and proud father to his college-age (MU!!) daughter..
AND…
he helped us all feel totally at ease in front of the camera…
he’s really a nice guy…
and that is sooo much better than just being tuff:)
Brad’s feature stories are archived here…

I couldn’t sleep last night…
Well, I woke up and couldn’t get back to sleep…
And my thoughts were on yesterday’s Cookie Decorating 101 class…
and I realized something VERY cool about my students…
and their cookies…
I had given them basic information…techniques…cookie designs to try…and loaned them my equipment…
I gave them cookies to decorate and icing to pipe…
and they created cookie ART…
They “felt” it… just like I do…
That push to turn a cookie into canvas and icing into paint…
To create something edible that is also to be enjoyed visually…
How do I know?
Just look…
