# 7 30/30 Challenge

The Alpha Xi Delta house sits on 5th Ave. across from the Student Union. It’s special to me: It’s a magnificent building, which still stands on Fifth Avenue across from the Student Union. And I was a member of this sorority, where I made some beautiful friendships, Lastly my great uncle, Uncle Ed, a sheetContinue reading “# 7 30/30 Challenge”

#6 30/30 Challenge

I’m really glad I’m painting 30 paintings in 30 days, I really regret committing to posting them. It’s like posting my diary entries for the world to read. Oh well. Here’s #6. When I was a senior in high school, we moved across the street from the Stutlers; they lived in this house. I’ve lovedContinue reading “#6 30/30 Challenge”

#5 30/30 Challenge

“Red Doors” ∗ Historic Guyandotte Methodist Church ∗ Michael Adkins, the photographer, posted a photo of this stunning building on the FB page, Huntington Area Photography Group. Thanks, Michael! Thanks for following along, Linda

#4 “Home Sweet Home…Almost”

“Home Sweet Home…Almost” I’ve driven by this fire house probably 1000 times, but this time I was on a mission: with camera in tow, I was looking for “picture-worthy-Huntington-buildings”. And when I saw the grill and garden… I knew I would be painting this place. Thanks for following along, Linda

Painting #3… 30/30 Challenge

I call it Blue House on Mortimer Place. If you’re not familiar with it, Mortimer Place is a U-shaped street entered from 12th Ave, just one block over from Ritter Park. Probably eight houses in all, they steadfastly guard the inside of the U where one can discover stone benches, flower beds, and little tables and chairs. The houses,Continue reading “Painting #3… 30/30 Challenge”

Painting #2 30/30 Challenge

An example of Beaux Arts Classicism, Carnegie Public Library in downtown Huntington, was the first public library in Cabell County. Andrew Carnegie gave $35,000 towards its construction in 1902-1903. Today, the building houses Huntington Junior College, and the current Cabell County Downtown Library built in 1980 is across the street. Thanks for following along, Linda

30/30…Painting #1

The little fence had me at hello. As soon as I saw this house I knew I was painting it. Built in the 60’s when I was a child, this house was near Sandy’s house. She and I played together, rode bikes together, highlighted one another’s hair… (we always laughed off the disastrous results)… Sandy lived in oneContinue reading “30/30…Painting #1”

Painting a Cookie

No it’s not paint. It’s food coloring… applied with a brush. Yes, it’s tricky… but the results can be adorable and even VERY COOL! Adorable ↓ Very cool ↓ I had an order for painted cookies this weekend. (Yes I did them before and after my cookie class;) I snapped a couple of during photos… White icing (driedContinue reading “Painting a Cookie”

Life is good

Life is good. Yesterday’s cookie class was so much fun. I LOVE sharing my cookie art knowledge with wonderful women. Each of my students created all of these designs. They learned SO much in four hours! My November and December workshops are full; I have some new classes posted on my WORKSHOPS page. Thanks for following along,Continue reading “Life is good”

Cookie Art Makes the News AGAIN!

Let me tell you the story about these cookies… I had decided to stop all cookie art. No more classes, no more orders. And Tammi Arender called. Well, she emailed. Who calls these days? Tammi Arender, the evening newscaster for WOWK Channel 13, is quite a force (in a good way;) She asked if IContinue reading “Cookie Art Makes the News AGAIN!”
